New Super 35mm Sensor

The large Super 35mm CMOS sensor allows the HDC-4800 camera to take full advantage of PL-mount lenses, as well as supporting B4 lenses via an optional adapter for HD production. You’ll get stunning 4K images that capture fast-paced sports action with incredible definition. For ease of use, it features a dual color correction (CC) and neutral density (ND) filter that can be remotely operated for various exposure controls.

More colors, a wider dynamic range, more realism

The all-new Super 35mm CMOS sensor and advanced optical system of the HDC-4800 support the latest generation ITU-R BT.2020 color gamut. Much wider than the color range displayed on traditional television broadcasts, this extended gamut offers directors a broader palette of tones for live broadcasts.

Furthermore, the HDC-4800 camera can capture HDR (High Dynamic Range) content, with an extended range of brightness levels. This enhances the impact and realism of live sporting event footage.

Ultra High Frame Rate BPU and Playback Server

An ideal complement to the HDC-4800, the BPU-4800 combines tape processing and UHFR server functions in a single compact rack-mountable unit.

The BPU-4800 supports recording and playback of all your UHFR content, without the need for a separate ultra-slow-motion server, giving you up to four hours of 4K UHFR storage.

Integration with the PWS-4500 server via the SharePlay real-time network also allows for fast and smooth editing.

Never miss a thing again thanks to HD image cropping

The processing power allows for real-time cropping of a Full HD ultra High Frame Rate image from a 4K image. During replay, any portion of the captured image can be resized to provide a -up of the image in UHFR HD. This gives directors a powerful editorial tool to enhance live sports broadcasts with detailed analysis of the action, regardless of when or where it takes place.

Up to the action during the 50th Super Bowl

With technical support from broadcast services provider NEP, CBS Sports successfully captured stunning 4K (8x) UHFR footage during Super Bowl LIV using the HDC-4800. The camera’s HD cropping function allowed a server operator to zoom in and instantly create high-definition -ups of the 4K footage.
