The Schneider Gen2 Full +1/4 diopter is an accessory for -up lenses that reduces the focusing distance for -up shots. The higher the diopter strength, the shorter the focusing distance (MOD).

The power is given as the inverse of the focal length in meters. This means that a diopter +1 brings the focal plane to 1 meter. The diopter shortens the focal length of the optical system.

By using Schneider Full Gen2 diopter filters, macro images can be taken without a special macro lens. This is achieved by increasing magnification while decreasing the field of view, but maintaining depth of field.

These filters are popular for reducing distortion (MOD) on vintage lenses, especially anamorphic lenses and zooms. They provide a variety of effects for storytelling, from a miniaturized look on a wide-aperture wild-field lens to very -up images showing fine details on small objects when used with a long focal length.
