Introducing the Zeiss CP.3 100mm T2.1

The Zeiss CP.3 100mm T2.1 Compact Prime lens offers the same full-sensor coverage and classic Zeiss look in an updated form factor with improved mechanics and lens coatings. This 100mm Compact Prime lens is derived from the same classic optical formula as the previous CP.2 variant and shares the same physical length as the 135mm CP13 lens, while maintaining the same focus and aperture as all CP.3 lenses, relative to the mount. All CP.3 lenses share the same 95mm front diameter. Similar physical attributes across the lens line make lens adjustment accessories such as matte boxes, tracking foci, lens mounts, and lens drive motors easier and less time-consuming.

Interchangeable mounts are another feature of previous CP.2 lenses. This lens comes with a PL mount installed. However, if you wish to adapt your CP.3 lens to a different camera, the lens mount can be swapped by the user for a different mount available separately. If you like your bokeh to be rounded even after you stop shooting, you’ll be pleased to know that the 14-blade iris, made famous by the CP.2 lenses, has been retained.

Signature Zeiss Look

Zeiss lenses are known for their sharp and precise image rendering. The CP.3 lens series is no different. This CP.3 lens is a perfect match for other Zeiss cinema lenses both within and outside the CP.3 range. CP.3 lenses feature improved lens coatings and anti-reflective masking on the CP.2 range for increased contrast and reduced reflections, which is important for capturing content with the intention of an HDR version.

New ergonomic design

For improved ergonomics compared to the previous generation CP.2 lenses, the CP.3 lens barrel has been redesigned to more closely resemble the renowned Zeiss Ultra Prime lenses. This new shape is easier to handle and occupies less physical space than the original Compact Prime design. Even weight distribution ensures these lenses will be at home, locked onto a tripod, or flying on a Steadicam or motorized gimbal.
