The ATEM Studio Converter includes four bidirectional fiber optic connections. Each connection converts the input camera signal to SDI and extracts all audio to the analog audio outputs. Talkback audio and a program return or auxiliary recording are returned for each camera point, along with a tally signal that illuminates an LED on the camera converter to clearly indicate that the camera is live!

The ATEM Studio Converter is the ideal partner for the ATEM Camera Converter.

Connect up to four Camera Converters using fiber optic cable up to 45 km away with two-way video, tally, and talkback. Connect your ATEM switcher’s programmable output to the ATEM Studio Converter, and it will be distributed to all four Camera Converters. Multiple Studio Converters can be daisy-chained when more than four cameras are required. The Studio Converter can also be used as four independent SDI converters, as a Fiber to HDMI converter, or as four simultaneous independent SDI to Optical and Optical to SDI converters!

Camera Live Connections: The perfect solution for live events!

ATEM converters are the perfect solution for concerts and sporting events where you need to place cameras in remote locations such as on a racetrack or near a stadium, where there is a huge distance between the live action and your switchers! Connect up to 4 ATEM camera converters to each ATEM Studio converter and get multi-camera talkback, provided all camera operators can communicate with the switcher operator using the talkback built into channels 15 and 16 of the fiber optic SDI connection.

ATEM converters connect via industry-standard single-mode fiber optic cable with standard LC connectors. Fiber optics allows you to connect over distances farther than traditional copper cables. It is readily available, easy to use, and inexpensive because it uses the same fiber optic cable typically used for computer networks. ATEM Camera Converter and ATEM Studio Converter utilize the SMPTE standard specification for standard single-mode fiber optic connections at 1310nm, enabling connections up to 28 miles!

When you’re on a live production set, it’s vital to be able to communicate with your camera crew. ATEM Camera and Studio Converters provides you with 16 standard SDI audio channels and built-in talkback on the rarely used channels 15 and 16. ATEM Camera Converter uses standard PC or iPhone headphones, but ATEM Studio Converter uses more robust aviator-style headphones, available in hundreds of different styles! ATEM Studio Converter also includes a built-in microphone and speaker input, so you don’t need headphones.

Tally

It’s important for camera operators to know when their camera is live, so they don’t inadvertently change a take while millions of people might be watching! ATEM Camera and Studio Converters support SDI tally output from recordings of your selected program, such as Blackmagic Design’s ATEM line of live production switchers. When a camera is live, a red LED illuminates on the ATEM Camera Converter, and a red tally appears on the converter’s SDI or HDMI monitoring outputs!

Intelligent software

Converter control functions: Blackmagic Design’s Converter Utility Software lets you quickly configure converter functions, including the number of cameras and audio levels. The utility software also allows you to update your ATEM converters with the latest firmware via a USB connection on each converter. This means you can download firmware updates to add new features or support for new video formats. Conversion utility software is available for Mac OS X and Windows.

Ergonomic controls for all settings and talkback from the front panel

Illuminated « push-to-talk » buttons are located on the front of the ATEM Studio Converter, facilitating talkback operations between multiple cameras. These buttons can be locked, so the chat channel remains open when needed.
