In recent years, the rapid growth in the number of films (corporate or commercial videos distributed online and on other platforms) produced by emerging filmmakers has multiplied the opportunities for shooting with standard cinema cameras and digital cameras, and has increased the demand for high-performance, high-resolution cinema lenses capable of perfectly reproducing filmed scenes. Cinema lenses are an optimal choice for controlling shallow depths of field and creating a delicate bokeh effect. However, because they are generally bulky, heavy, and expensive, online film producers (and at a lower cost) are opting for the more affordable and portable interchangeable lenses of digital cameras. Nevertheless, these interchangeable digital camera lenses are designed for photography and are therefore prone to focus shifts or optical axis fluctuations during zooming. To address this, Fujifilm has developed new, highly compact cinema lenses with advanced optical performance and excellent operability to meet the needs of emerging creative filmmakers.

The MK lenses join the Fujinon cinema optics range and inherit their advanced optical performance across the entire field and their low distortion1, while benefiting from a compact, lightweight design, and an exceptional cost/performance ratio unprecedented to date.
With a constant T2.9 aperture , the MK series offers bright optics across the entire zoom range, reducing depth of field and enabling beautiful bokeh effects. These lenses are compatible with E-mount cameras (E-mount 3 ) featuring the Super 35mm 4 /APS-C sensor and with the X-mount of Fujifilm X-Series digital cameras (APS-C sensor). They deliver advanced optical performance while remaining lightweight and compact, and benefit from an optimized short flange focal distance . The high-level optical and mechanical design of these cinema lenses minimizes focus loss during zooming, as well as optical axis shift and focus pumping (change in the angle of view during focusing), phenomena frequently observed in interchangeable lenses for digital cameras. These new lenses incorporate three independent mechanical rings for manual adjustment of focus, zoom, and aperture (iris), with click stops in 0.8 mm increments . For easy, precise adjustment and greater ease of use, the focus ring rotates 200°.

Advanced optical performance integrated into a compact and lightweight structure
MK lenses benefit from advanced optical performance and low distortion across the entire frame. Their colorimetry is harmonized with that of other FUJINON CINEMA lenses in the HK/ZK/XK series to simplify calibrationwhen using multiple different lenses.
They feature a constant T2.9 aperture throughout the zoom range, facilitating the creation of beautiful bokeh effects with a shallow depth of field. This eliminates the need to readjust lighting levels, thus reducing shooting time.
The MK series lenses are designed for E-mount camerasequipped with a Super 35mm/APS-C sensorand Fujifilm’s X-mount mirrorless digital cameras (APS-C sensor). Both compact and lightweight, they boast advanced optical performance, incorporating a small flange focal distance adjustment range for optimized settings. They allow for shooting sessions with a small crew.
Resolution of problems related to the use of interchangeable lenses in the range of digital cameras used in film production
The front focusing group and the zoom group are driven independently to eliminate focus shift during zooming, thus avoiding the need to refocus after a focal length change. This optical and mechanical design prevents the time lag often seen with electronically controlled systems.
The internal front focusing mechanism prevents optical pumping (change in field of view during focusing) to achieve smooth focus for dramatic scenes.
The manufacturing technology developed for conventional FUJINON cinema lenses is employed here to control optical axis shift during zooming in or out, ensuring perfect framing throughout.
Perfect operability via optics dedicated to cinema
The focus ring rotates 200 degrees to facilitate focusing in shallow depths of field when high precision is required.
The lenses are equipped with three independent mechanical rings dedicated to focus, zoom, and iris (aperture). These allow for intuitive and instantaneous operations that are more precise than those achieved with an electronic mechanism, which is prone to timing issues.
These rings operate with a 0.8M click-stop, like all other FUJINON cinema lenses, and allow the use of all standard cinema accessories, such as follow focus, for precise and smooth focusing.
Iris adjustment is exceptionally smooth and continuous, without any jerking or clicks, and therefore without any mechanical noise.
A standardized design to facilitate operations
Equipped with an 85mm diameter front element, compatible with matte boxes.
The filter diameter of the MK lenses is 82mm, simplifying use and interchangeability between models.
The position of the knurled rings (iris, zoom, and focus) is identical for all lenses in the MK series, facilitating the use of accessories.
Highly versatile, they feature a macro function for -up focusing down to 0.38m for the MK 18-55mm and up to 0.85m for the MK 50-135mm throughout the entire focal range.
They also benefit from back-focus adjustment, allowing you to set the back focus (distance between the last lens element and the sensor) for optimal camera and lens matching, thus maximizing optical performance.
