Introducing the Wooden Camera Unified Baseplate (Sony FX6, Venice, Rialto, URSA Mini, Mini Pro, Mini Pro 12K)
The Wooden Camera Unified Baseplate (Sony FX6, Venice, Rialto, URSA Mini, Mini Pro, Mini Pro 12K) is a quick-release baseplate that allows for rod support at the correct lens height. The 15mm rods slide in from front to back and have two locking screws on each side. The baseplate releases quickly in two ways, giving the user the option of attaching the lightweight 15mm rods or leaving them behind.
To remove the camera and leave the 15mm LW rods behind, loosen the locking screw on the right side, slide the camera back a short distance, and lift it upwards. The dovetail attached to the bottom of the camera is a standard ARCA Swiss design that is compatible with many third-party products. Additionally, there are 1/4-20 threaded holes on the bottom for attaching to stabilizers or tripod plates if needed. This dovetail also features a 15mm vertical rod opening that can be used to support a lens tripod directly in front of the camera body.
The bottom of the baseplate consists of a dovetail with 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 threaded holes for attaching to a tripod plate or a standard ARRI bridgeplate, such as the Unified Baseplate 19mm or 15mm Studio. To remove the camera from the dovetail and take the 15mm rods with you, loosen the left thumbscrew, slide the baseplate a short distance backward, and lift.
For VCT-14 compatible mounting options, the base plate can be attached to the Unified VCT Wedge Plate, providing easy counterweight support on the shoulder. This can then be attached to the Unified VCT-14 tripod plate, which is then attached to the tripod head. Additional dovetails can be mounted on stabilizers, jibs, cranes, etc., enabling quick and repeatable camera transitions.
