Description
Real-time HDR/WCG conversion with video processing by Colorfront Engine
The AJA FS-HDR is a universal converter and frame synchronizer in a 1RU rack, specifically designed to meet the HDR (High Dynamic Range) and WCG (Wide Color Gamut) requirements of AV broadcast, OTT, live, and post-production environments, where real-time processing, low latency, and color fidelity are essential for 4K/UltraHD and 2K/HD workflows.
Equipped with the Colorfront Engine, featuring Colorfront’s proprietary video processing algorithms, the FS-HDR also functions as a single-channel up, down, cross, and HDR converter in 4K/UltraHD/2K/HD. In 4-channel mode, it offers four channels of simultaneous and independent 2K/HD HDR and SDR transformations.
Key features of the AJA FS-HDR converter
HDR to HDR, SDR to HDR, and HDR to SDR conversions for Dynamic Range and Wide Color Gamut requirements.
Two operating modes:

Broad interoperability with 4K/UltraHD/2K/HD dithering, including Quadrant and 2SI, P, PsF, and interlaced conversions
Footprint of only 1RU for more space, lower power consumption, and a lower cost per channel. Ideal for OB vans, post-production, and broadcast setups
Audio processing I/O with a 272×208 matrix of possibilities; Support for a range of distinct audio streams from AES to MADI via embedded in SDI, with sample rate conversion capability for each audio input
Simplified operation with a new menu structure and direct access to features via front panel buttons or through an embedded web server, complete control via network or web.
Real-time HDR converter
The pursuit of High Dynamic Range (HDR) is the dream of approaching the human visual system (HVS) that every human can experience through their eyes. The FS-HDR was designed to get us there faster with a slim, self-contained rack that works instantly and serves only as a gateway between SDR to HDR, HDR to SDR, and HDR to HDR formats, all in real time.

Maintaining Perceptual Integrity
The FS-HDR’s HDR/WCG capabilities utilize video and color space algorithm processing through the Colorfront Engine, thanks to a specific license between AJA and Colorfront, developed by Colorfront’s CTO, Bill Feighter, and principal engineer Tamas Perlaki, both of whom are Technology Oscar winners.
Powered by the Colorfront Engine, the FS-HDR’s comprehensive HDR and WCG processing enables real-time support for a single channel in 4K/UltraHD/2K/HD, including down-conversion to HD HDR, or for 1 to 4 channels of 2K/HD simultaneously. The FS-HDR also allows conversion of formats from numerous cameras across various manufacturers to the HDR color space, in addition to bidirectional conversion between BT.2020 and BT.709 when necessary and crucial for the widespread adoption of HDR alongside SDR in broadcast and OTT workflows.
Real-time camera LOG conversions
The FS-HDR can capture incoming footage from most common professional cameras and convert their LOG outputs in real time to 4K/UltraHD or 2K/HD, outputting them in both HDR and SDR formats. This greatly simplifies workflows involving a mix of cameras, providing a unified HDR or SDR workflow to switchers, as needed. Furthermore, the FS-HDR offers the ability to convert all these sources to Sony S-Gamut/S-Log3 for workflows requiring this Log stream for compatible switchers and other devices.

Single-channel mode: rock-solid reliability and extraordinary 4K/HD conversion power!
4K/UltraHD deliveries, processing and synchronization are on track to become the next standard, and the FS-HDR takes you there with extensive digital video connectivity, including Quad 1.5G, Dual 3G, Quad 3G in 3G-SDI and 12Gb/6Gb via optional SFP fiber modules to achieve 12G-SDI in BNC and 12G-SDI over Fiber.
In single channel mode, the FS-HDR will upscale your HD or SD content to 4K/UltraHD and vice versa, and will process a wide range of audio channels through fiber, 3G-SDI, AES, and MADI for incredible audio matrixing with 272 x 208 possibilities.
In single channel mode, HDR processing can be performed on true 4K or UltraHD signals and up, down, cross conversions are available for HD HDR or HDR SDR needs from UltraHD sources.
Four-channel mode: welcome to the world of HD HDR multi-channel processing!
In four-channel mode, the FS-HDR delivers incredibly powerful multi-channel conversions with up to four simultaneous HDR processing channels for 2K/HD and SD signals. The conversion processes also enable region scaling (ROI), color correction, proc amp controls, motion-adaptive deinterlacing, and more.
In 4-channel mode, you can also take a single HD source and process it independently to 4 different separate outputs, each with its own HDR/SDR transformations.
Multichannel density of a 1RU chassis. Space, energy and power preserved.
