Large integrated viewfinder
The Studio Camera 4K Pro G2’s design is centered around an incredible full-resolution HD viewfinder with a bright screen and wide viewing angle. For outdoor use, it features a flip-up sunshade to protect the screen. You can also detach it, or even replace it with the metal sunshade from the URSA Studio Viewfinder.
Broadcast and consumer connectivity
Blackmagic Studio Cameras were designed to be sleek while offering a logical layout for all connections. Video input and output connections are positioned on the right for easy attachment to a tripod handle. On the left, you’ll find connections for talkback, audio input, the USB port, and more. This is ideal for headsets, as the camera connection is on the same side as the headset connection, preventing any tangling.
Integrated tripod mount
Since every Blackmagic Studio Camera includes a tripod mount, you don’t need to purchase any accessories. This mount features a quick-release plate for attaching the camera to the tripod with a simple slide-on, making on-location setup incredibly fast. Additionally, the tripod mount includes two horizontal screw threads for adding optional rails when using heavy equipment such as teleprompters, matte boxes, or large lenses.

Designed for powerful SDI switchers, the Blackmagic Design Studio Camera 4K Pro G2 features professional 12G-SDI and 10G Ethernet connections. This is ideal when the camera is positioned far from the switcher. It includes a 12G-SDI output and a 12G-SDI program return input that includes camera control, talkback, and tally. You also get a powerful HDMI output with control functions. Furthermore, thanks to 10G Ethernet, all connections are consolidated onto a single cable for a much more cost-effective SMPTE-like workflow.
With a dynamic range of 13 stops, blacks are deeper and whites brighter, which is ideal for color correction. Perfect for HD and Ultra HD productions, the 4K models offer a resolution of 3840 x 2160. Furthermore, all models support frame rates from 23.98 to 60 fps.
Thanks to its digital film dynamic range and Blackmagic Design color science, it can handle challenging lighting conditions while producing cinematic images. The Blackmagic Studio Camera is built for production , but because it records in Blackmagic RAW to USB drives, you don’t need to use it with a live switcher. It can be used with a tripod, for example. The large 7-inch viewfinder makes it ideal for debates, television production, news, sports and educational programs, and presentations.
Lightweight case made of carbon fiber and polycarbonate
Because the Blackmagic Studio Cameras’ bodies are made of carbon fiber and polycarbonate, they are lightweight and very robust. This is important when transporting multiple cameras to hard-to-reach locations such as theaters, stadiums, or nightclubs. Furthermore, all external connections are ergonomically positioned on the camera’s tripod handle side.
Highly visible tally light
The Blackmagic Design Studio Camera 4K Pro G2 features a large tally light to indicate which camera is on the antenna, visible from a distance. Additionally, there are numbers to identify each camera. There’s also a tally light on the back under the lens hood, which is ideal when tilting the camera downwards. The tally is versatile, as it works via SDI, HDMI, or Ethernet.
Touchscreen and manual controls
For live productions, having all camera controls at your fingertips is essential. Since the viewfinder’s LCD screen is touch-sensitive, you can access all camera settings via the on-screen menus. You have dials for screen brightness and contrast, as well as a focus peaking dial for precise focusing. There are also touch controls for color temperature, gain, and audio levels, along with program return and customizable buttons.
