The Memory Mic connects first via Bluetooth, so you no longer have to worry about being out of range. The microphone continues to record no matter how far away your smartphone is. The Sennheiser Memory Mic records up to 4 hours of audio, which will automatically sync with your smartphone’s video using the Sennheiser Memory Mic app, available for download on the App Store or Google Play.

The Memory Mic comes in a reinforced housing, easily attached via a magnetic clip on the back, and houses an omnidirectional, pre-polarized condenser microphone. With a frequency response of 100 Hz to 20 kHz and a maximum sensitivity of 119 dB at 1 kHz, it includes a Bluetooth module for wireless transmission to a smartphone. However, Sennheiser indicates that the connection is not required for the entire recording process; it should continue even when the two devices are out of range.

A mobile app of the same name, available for Android (5.1 or later) and iOS (10.2 or later), allows you to synchronize audio and video with a single click if needed. The Memory Mic’s sensitivity can also be adjusted within the app, as well as the ambient noise level used by the smartphone’s microphones. Finally, note that the accessory, with its 360 mAh rechargeable battery, boasts a 4-hour battery life and measures 51 x 37 x 16 mm, weighing approximately 30 grams.
