A unique system designed specifically for professional image quality in low light

With an identical body to the GH5, the GH5S features the same 10.2-megapixel Live MOS sensor as the GH5S, combined with Dual Native ISO technology from VariCam and the GH5’s Venus Engine processor. It delivers incredibly lifelike images, especially in the darkest areas, enabling high-sensitivity recording up to ISO 51200. The magnesium alloy body is fully weather-sealed for use in harsh conditions, and the physical controls have been improved for easier touch operation

An incredible level of detail in extreme low-light conditions

The GH5S features new Dual Native ISO technology. It uses a dual noise reduction circuit, with two different native ISO levels. At high ISO settings, the GH5S switches to the second circuit, perfectly suited for processing high ISOs, to produce ultra-clean and detailed footage in low light.

10.28MP Live MOS digital sensor and Venus processor

The camera is specifically designed for low-light shooting and high-resolution video recording. It features a 10.28-megapixel Live Digital MOS sensor and a Venus processor, ideal for capturing the finest details, maximizing sharpness and detail in any challenging lighting conditions. Its design maintains the native angle of view of a lens despite changes in image format. Furthermore, the sensor and processor combination utilizes high readout speeds and eliminates shutter distortion when recording video or working with the electronic shutter. Dual Native ISO technology uses ISO 400 and ISO 2500 as base sensitivities for low noise levels. The overall native sensitivity range extends from ISO 160-51200 and can be expanded to ISO 80-204800.

DCI and UHD 4K video recording

The GH5S allows recording DCI 4K at up to 60 fps and 150 Mbps. UHD 4K recording is also supported, with Full HD recording up to 240 fps for slow-motion playback. A full-size HDMI port is included for high-quality 4:2:2 10-bit output. Furthermore, the GH5S offers gamma settings optimized for capturing a wide dynamic range. The pre-installed V-Log L enables the capture of a flat, neutral gamma curve.
Three video control modes are also available: shutter speed/ISO, shutter angle/ISO, or shutter speed/dB, to meet the needs of productions worldwide.

Still image recording and depth-of-focus AF system

Its low-light capabilities and fast readout speeds make it ideal for working in challenging lighting conditions or photographing fast-moving subjects. For 12-bit shooting, and when working with AF-S, it’s possible to capture continuous images at up to 12 fps, as well as a shooting rate of 8 fps with AF-C. For accelerated autofocus performance, advanced Depth-From-Defocus (DFD) technology is used to quickly calculate the distance to subjects and adjust the focus position in as little as 0.05 seconds.
Sensitivity and speed can be adjusted to further enhance performance. It also features 225 autofocus areas.

4K PHOTO Modes

The camera includes 3 still shooting modes, ideal for recording continuous 8MP still images at a shooting rate of 60 or 30 fps. (Burst mode, Pre-Burst mode and Burst (S/S) mode).

Built-in functions and Wi-Fi

The rear 3.2-inch RGBW LCD screen has a 1.62m viewing angle and a wider tilt and swivel angle to accommodate various shooting perspectives. Its touchscreen provides intuitive menu navigation.
Optimized for night shooting, the viewfinder and rear screen can be adjusted to benefit from working in low-light conditions. A Night Mode allows you to control the brightness of both the screen and the viewfinder. Brightness can be increased by lowering the frame rate and increasing the Live View gain for working in extremely dark situations. The camera is equipped with two UHS-II SD card slots. A joystick on the back of the camera allows you to control numerous settings and parameters. Several assignable function buttons are also available, along with a dedicated exposure compensation selector. Built-in 5 GHz Wi-Fi with NFC and Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy enables wireless image sharing and remote camera control from connected smartphones and tablets. Bluetooth LE also allows for a constant connection to your mobile device, enabling features such as geotagging and automatic image transfer.
