The Schneider Hollywood Black Magic filter combines the best effects of the HD Classic Soft with the Black Frost filter: bright areas are subtly diffused without affecting the richness of blacks and colours.
HD Classic Soft is often used to smooth out imperfections on a face, while Black Frost softens the video image, giving a « cinematic » look by reducing reflections and contrast but without brightening dark areas.
The Schneider 4 x 5.65-inch 1/2″ Hollywood Black Magic filter can be used to reduce imperfections and wrinkles. This can be useful for creating a sharper image of a subject while softening the contrast in midtones. Additionally, a luminous effect is created around highlights, which can further enhance the appearance of a subject or produce a desired effect while maintaining overall sharpness.
This filter has a rating of 1/2. Ratings of 1/8, 1/4, 1 and 2 are also available where the effect of this type of filter becomes approximately twice as strong with each increase in the rating number.
