The next step in the pursuit of ultimate image quality with an F1.2 Art Line lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras.
The first AF wide-angle lens with a maximum aperture of F1.2 for Sony E-mount and L-mount full-frame cameras. This lens enables the creation of images with stunning resolution and remarkable bokeh effects, such as portraits with very shallow depth of field. It takes the Art Line development conceptthe pursuit of ultimate image qualityto the next level. While utilizing the camera’s built-in optical correction function, aberrations that are difficult to correct in post-processing are corrected in depth thanks to its optical construction, thus improving resolution.
About the product name: The product name includes DG when the lens is designed to deliver optimal performance on cameras with full-frame sensors, and DN when the lens design is optimized for mirrorless cameras with a short flange focal distance.
The first SIGMA prime lens with an ultra-fast maximum aperture of F1.2.
The « Art line of the mirrorless era » continues the quest for ultimate performance with a 35mm focal length lens boasting a maximum aperture of F1.2. Three SLD glass elements and three aspherical elements, including a double-sided aspherical lens, are optimally arranged in a 17-element, 12-group construction. In addition to the optical formula designed for short flange focal distances, the lens benefits from in-camera distortion and vignetting correction. Various aberrations difficult to correct in post-processing, such as flare and sagittal coma, are minimized through the integration of optical design technologies developed by SIGMA, generating impressive resolving power that meets the demands of sensors with over 50 megapixels.
Optimized ergonomics for all shooting situations, both stills and video.
In autofocus photography, the comfort of shooting at f/1.2 is made possible by a powerful hypersonic motor (HSM) that provides the necessary torque to drive the focusing lens group. In manual focus, the focus ring is activated by a focus-by-wire system with optimized smoothness for the photographer’s fine adjustments. The aperture ring also features a click-stop function to eliminate click stops, ensuring smooth operation, particularly useful when shooting video.
Features that inspire confidence, even in challenging environments.
The AFL button, which can be assigned to various functions, enhances the lens’s functionality. The lens also features a dust- and splash-proof construction, and the front element has a water-repellent coating, making shooting in difficult conditions easier.
