Description

The ZEISS Compact Prime CP.3 and CP.3 XD lenses are suitable for today’s cinema and even beyond!

The Zeiss CP.3 50mm T2.1 (Canon EF, Imperial) is part of the ZEISS CP.3 family. This is ZEISS’s latest contribution to supporting creativity and progress in filmmaking, with a range of affordable, future-proof, and high-quality lenses.
ZEISS CP.3 lenses offer a perfect combination of high image quality and ease of use. They showcase the craftsmanship for which ZEISS is renowned, with an interchangeable mount system and full-frame coverage.

The ZEISS CP.3 XD features innovative optical technology that accelerates and simplifies the workflow during filming and post-production.
The unique ZEISS eXtended Data technology, based on /i Technology, provides real-time information about image distortion and shadow characteristics. With ZEISS CP.3 XD lenses, even small, budget-conscious productions can access cutting-edge technology used in big-budget films, TV series, and advertising.

ZEISS Compact Prime CP.3 and CP.3 XD lenses for a true cinematic experience!

Ranging from 15mm to 135mm, the ten focal lengths available in the ZEISS Compact Prime CP.3 or CP.3 XD series cover all applications from wide-angle to telephoto. ZEISS CP.3 lenses feature advanced coatings, painted edges, and special light traps to eliminate unwanted glare and flare in the lens barrel. This results in higher contrast, richer blacks, and greater color saturation.

The clear and flawless ZEISS image perfectly matches other ZEISS cinema lenses.
Colors cover the entire image across a full focal length range from 15 to 135 mm.
Special lens coatings support dynamic use during filming.

The new ZEISS eXtended Data technology

ZEISS eXtended Data adds new opportunities to simplify and increase the accuracy of image capture and processing workflows. ZEISS eXtended Data unifies two types of information: key lens information, based on the open i/Technology (supported by a wide range of cameras and accessories), and a specific ZEISS information stream containing precise lens characteristics.
This unique technology provides real-time information about lens distortion and shadow characteristics, accelerating and simplifying workflows during filming and post-production.
Lens parameters are digitally captured on every frame, eliminating the need to manually record lens settings for each shot.
Documenting lens characteristics enhances creativity by allowing even the most complex shoots to be managed in post-production.

Ultimate cinematic ergonomics

The ZEISS CP.3 lens is a true professional tool that simplifies your work on film sets. Easy to handle and equip, it offers you great creative freedom.

Extraordinarily precise ring rotation, even under extreme temperatures, thanks to a sophisticated new design
Consistent T-stops simplifying lighting and exposure compensation on sets (T2.9 for 15-21mm and T2.1 for 25-135mm)

A new definition of the word compact

Thanks to its compact and lightweight design, you can use various stabilization systems (gimbal, drone, steadicam), shoot in tight spaces, or capture dynamic subjects.
Consistent size and weight across most focal lengths allow for quick lens changes when used on drones or gyroscopic stabilizers
.Tiny focusing motors

Key features of Zeiss CP3 optics:

  • A professional tool, offering numerous advantages
  • Connecting production and post-production work

Regardless of production size or team size, ZEISS CP.3 XD optics benefit large teams and individual operators alike. ZEISS eXtended Data technology accelerates workflows and facilitates collaboration between production and post-production departments.

ZEISS eXtended Data Processing Options

The ZEISS CP.3 XD provides a complete solution for recording data to an application on set or in post-production. ZEISS eXtended data is recorded and processed frame by frame in real time. Data can be transferred in two ways: either to any compatible equipment via an external LEMO®* compatible socket, or to any camera compatible with the i/ standard technology via a 4-pin interface (PL-mount). The additional ZEISS plug-in, compatible with leading compositing and editing software, allows lens characteristics to be removed and/or reapplied to images.

Obtaining the Extended Warranty:
It is now possible to register not only prime lenses, but also ZEISS Compact Prime CP.2 and ZEISS Compact Prime CP.3 lenses online, and thus receive a 2-year warranty extension.
Once the product is registered on the ZEISS website, a ZEISS warranty is granted to end users, owners, or operators (only) of ZEISS cinema lenses. Online registration of ZEISS cinema lenses is possible up to four weeks after purchase. The ZEISS Extended Warranty is available in many countries, but warranty claims can only be made in the country where the product was purchased.

The unique ZEISS eXtended Data technology

Visual effects specialist, producer, and director Scott E. Anderson had the opportunity to test the ZEISS Compact Primes CP.3 XD lens range for the first time. This director will guide you through the various stages of creating visual effects on a budget, using ZEISS eXtended Data. ZEISS eXtended Data is a unique technology based on /i Technology, which provides real-time information about image distortion and shadow characteristics. With ZEISS CP.3 XD lenses, even small, budget-conscious productions now have access to cutting-edge technology used in big-budget films, TV series, and advertising.

ZEISS eXtended Data: Expand your possibilities.

During filming, key elements of ZEISS eXtended Data allow crew members to control lens parameters in real time, preview edited images, and utilize new automated search functions within the workflow. In post-production, ZEISS eXtended Data offers numerous benefits, such as image fine-tuning, color editing and grading, visual effects, virtual and augmented reality, multi-camera live productions, and projections and 3D imaging. An additional plug-in provided by ZEISS facilitates easier integration of ZEISS eXtended Data into a wide range of software tools.
ZEISS eXtended Data reduces workflow costs and streamlines the exchange of lens information between production and post-production departments.

ZEISS eXtended Data unifies two information functions:

Key optical information.

ZEISS eXtended Data technology is based on /i Technology and is supported by a wide range of cameras and accessories. The key information provided is:

Lens name, type, and focal length
Calibrated focus distance
Calibrated T-stop value
Real-time depth-of-field information and hyperfocal distance
